Top shoe designer Aruna Seth shares her must-ask questions!

1 “What style of shoes will go best with my dress?”

You need to consider your dress carefully when finding the perfect shoe. Bring a fabric swatch along when you’re buying your shoes to compare them, and pick a shoe colour to complement it. A pristine white dress goes best with white or a pale pearl colour, and an off-white gown goes best with pearl or ivory shoes. If your dress is short then choose a pair with a fab embellishment.

2 “Do I need to take shoes to my dress fitting?”
It’s best to be organised and look for shoes in advance. Choose shoes around the same time as you choose your dress – brides sometimes make last-minute decisions that can ruin their look.

3 “What are the big bridal trends at the moment?”

You can bring your bridal look up to the minute with your shoes and accessories. Butterflies are everywhere right now, and many brides are theming their weddings around them, so at Aruna Seth, we’ve designed butterfly brooches to meet demand. They also match our best-selling bridal butterfly shoes.

4 “Should I consider my wedding location?”

Pick shoes that are suitable for your venue. Wedges and flats are best for garden weddings, to avoid ruining your heels in mud. Flat sandals are best for beach weddings, and certain venues ask you not to wear stilettos so you don’t damage the floor.

5 “How do I choose the right shoe?”

Choose a style you love, and also make sure they’re the right height for your dress and balance it perfectly.

6 “What happens if I buy my shoes and then change my mind?”
At Aruna Seth we have a policy where we will either refund or exchange shoes within 14 days of you receiving them, as long as the shoes are unworn. Organising a wedding is stressful enough, so being able to change your mind about a few things should definitely be allowed!

7 “How do I wear wedding shoes with confidence?”

Practise walking in your shoes before the big day and remember to schedule in a pedicure. Pedicures instantly make you feel relaxed, refreshed and special!

8 “How can I make my shoes extra comfortable?”

I’d suggest putting cushioning into shoes, and practise walking in them at home before the big day. If you’re getting married abroad, it may be a good idea to go up half a size as your feet may swell in the heat.

9 “Do you have any tips to ensure I don’t buy the wrong shoes?”

You need to pick the right heel height and stick to what you’re already used to. You also need to consider the height of your husband – you don’t want to look taller than him!

10 “Can shoes make my wedding stand out?”

Shoes can certainly be a talking point of your wedding day if you pick a statement pair. A few brides have worn our coloured shoes for their big day and it’s amazing seeing a splash of colour from beneath the dress.
