When you think about summer skin, you probably conjure up images of tanned, clear complexions with a healthy glow. Now have a think about winter skin... cracked, dry skin with a dull complexion?

Winter brides don’t despair! It doesn’t have to be that way. With the right skincare routine and the help of some wonderful beauty products, you too can get a gorgeous bridal glow in time for your wedding day.

The prep
It's probably the millionth time you’ve heard it, but it’s true what they say… good skin starts from the inside. You should be mindful of what you eat and how this can impact upon your skin. Stock up on foods that are high in vitamin A – things like leafy greens, carrots and sweet potatoes. Vitamin E is also important to beat dry skin and you’ll find this in nuts, olives and spinach.

Additionally, it’s also important to up your water intake during the winter months – you may not feel like it as you’re not trying to cool down in the hot summer sun, but your body and skin needs moisture now more than ever.

The routine
Having a great skincare routine is essential any time of the year, but it’s particularly prevalent during the colder months, as your skin will require a little extra TLC. Start with a nourishing cleanser – stop using anything foaming or clarifying as these will only dry out your skin further.

Then, move on to a balancing toner – this will ensure your skin is still purified and free of toxins, but it won’t strip the skin like other ones can.

Finally, finish your daily routine with a super-hydrating moisturiser – we love Skin79’s Arago Spa Aqua Gel Cream. Then, on the evening, be sure to treat your skin to a nourishing overnight treatment like a mask or oil (our can’t-live-without-product has to be the Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil by Clarins).

The products
As well as perfecting your daily routine, there are a few extra special products you can incorporate into your beauty arsenal to ensure your skin is flawless for the big day.

First up, think about your lips – they can become very dry in the cold so make sure you take care of them with a nourishing lip balm - we love the one's by Burt's Bees.

Another thing to consider using would be a face mask. There are some great ones on the market for reviving and regenerating skin (check out this GlamGlow wonder), but be sure to avoid detoxing masks as these will be too drying.

One final product to consider would be an anti-pollution cream, like the Elizabeth Arden Prevage City Smart SPF50 Hydrating Shield. During the winter, we are exposed to more pollution, so investing in a good barrier cream is the perfect way to stop harmful toxins penetrating your skin.

Armed with a good beauty arsenal and a failsafe routine, you’ll be sure to be a beautiful bride with glowing winter skin.
