So you’ve splashed out on an eye-wateringly expensive wedding day perfume, but after a few hours you can no longer smell your floral scent. Sound familiar? Here’s some helpful hints on how to make your perfume last all day long.

The bottles:

The right room
Don’t store your perfume bottles in the bathroom. The humidity and dampness will break down the perfume and weaken the fragrance, so keep them in your bedroom instead.

HOW TO HANDLE BEAUTY NIGHTMARES ON YOUR WEDDING DAY

Still NOT shaken
Perfume is designed to stand still. Mixing up the scent will disturb the different elements, and ultimately, weaken the smell.

Box that beauty
Perfume needs to be stored away from daylight (so, forget displaying them neatly along your windowsill, ladies!) Sunlight degrades the oil and breaks down the fragrance, so make sure you keep the pretty box).

It’s all about that base
Choose a scent with rich, heavy base notes to ensure that it will last and last.

The body:

Pulse points
The ointment in petroleum jelly prolongs the scent of your perfume by letting it cling for longer. Apply a small amount of Vaseline to your wrists, neck and the inside of your elbows before spritzing on your perfume.

Rubbing up the wrong way
Forget what granny told you, rubbing your wrists together will just create friction which in turn will cause the top notes of the perfume to fade faster (boo!).

HOW TO BE A RADIANT BRIDE

In the nude
The best time to apply your perfume is when you’ve just hopped out the shower. Your damp skin will lock in the scent making it last that little bit longer. Just make sure to let it dry completely before popping your clothes on.

DIY lotion
Add a few drops of your fave fragrance into an unscented body moisturiser, and there you have it, you’ve created your very own scented body lotion (genius!). Wearing both a lotion and a perfume will give your scent a little bit more of a kick.
