Dress your maids by season!
Spring
Spring is the perfect time to look towards a fresh, nature-inspired colour palette, something which some of the best designers have carried into their latest gowns. Take your pick from shades of pale blue, green or pink with flower detailing or pretty corsages, while cute sandals and plenty of fresh flowers will complement the look.
Key looks: Pretty pastel colours, flower detailing or corsages, flirty knee-length skirts and girlish sandals.
Summer
Blazing hot Summer days mean that bright dresses will look stunning in your wedding photos, so take your pick from strong fuchsias, corals, blues and pinks to create a strong colour scheme. Shorter dresses will be popular to stop your maids overheating and will give them the chance to show off some sexy, strappy shoes! Some of these gowns will be perfect if you’re planning a wedding abroad too – but pick a fabric that won’t crease.
Key looks: Hot colours, strapless and knee-length styles.
Autumn
Planning an Autumn wedding? Find a venue that makes the most of the stunning colours around at this time of year and give your bridesmaids sumptuous gowns in similar shades? We love some of the copper and chocolate shades designers are using at the moment, which end themselves to gorgeous satin and silk fabrics. Depending on how late in the season you marry, a longer gown may be more appropriate.
Key looks: Rich browns and oranges, sumptuous fabrics.
Winter
Winter is the time to indulge in some vibrant, sophisticated colours and rich fabrics. Choose from navy blues, purples, reds and browns, or if you’re having a really glamorous wedding, black. Fabrics should be slightly heavier and more formal for a winter wedding so look at heavy silks and velvet, while sparkly detailing can add femininity. Bear in mind your maids might have to stand in the cold while you have your photos done too, so consider a shrug or wrap for each of them in a complementary shade to your colour scheme.
