Get your pooch involved: Instagram/sarabillphoto

Your wedding day – the best day of your life when you’re surrounded by loved ones. But, hey there's someone missing! Don’t leave your pet out of the proceedings, there are plenty of ways to get them involved. Here are seven reasons why they totally deserve an invite to the wedding of the year.

1. Your family will be too busy fussing over the Harry the hamster to notice that you’ve completely abandoned them to have selfies with your girls.

2. Little Pedro the pug will make the most perfect ring bearer (if you can get him out of that chewing everything in sight habit of course…)

3. The little ones will be so occupied petting your pooch that their parents will be able to sneak off to for a prosecco at the bar (and they will be eternally grateful).

4. The wedding photos just wouldn’t be complete without your own little family (and yes, that means the Gerbil too!).

5. When those pre-wedding jitters kick in, you’ll have your hedgehog on hand to calm those nerves

6. They can double up as transport. No, we don’t mean riding in on Nibbles the rabbit down to the church – but if you own a horse, this can be the perfect way for them to get in on the action.

7. Just think of the outfits! Will it be a bow tie? Sparkly neck tie, or maybe even a veil?! It's even more fun than wedding dress shopping!

However, if you do decide to include your furry friend on the big day, but make sure you have a designated person on animal watch who’s there for when someone decides to jump up onto the show-stopping wedding cake or when he/she may need a toilet break!
