Five hot hair trends
Whether you're wearing it loose and lovely or swept into a cute chignon, we've found you the prettiest new wedding styles to choose from!
1 Up and Away
This soft updo is perfect for elegant brides. Top stylist and Hairdresser of the Year Jamie Stevens (jamiestevenshair.com) says: "This is such a classic bridal style and perfect for attaching a veil! Blowdry the hair using a round brush for plenty of volume. Gently backcomb the crown with a comb and then smooth over the top. Pull the hair back to the nape of your neck and twist into a chignon, securing with pins."
2 So Vintage
Vintage is a huge trend at the moment and this romantic style would be perfect with the flowing, art deco gowns seen on recent catwalks. "This is a great style for shorter hair," says Jamie. "Blowdry hair using a little texturising cream, then use small heated rollers to create curls which should then be gently brushed out with your fingers. Give your hair a soft side-parting, then use a pretty headband over the top - you could even look for a vintage tiara!"
3 Loose Waves
"This style is great for long hair if you want to get away from traditional updos," says Jamie. "It suits anyone, but try a sweeping fringe to flatter a round face. You need a fantastic blowdry for this one - use a volumising shampoo and conditioner, then run mousse through damp hair. Blast it until almost dry, then use a medium round bristle brush to get volume at the roots and large rollers for more of a wave."
4 Chic Curls
"This is a really pretty style," says Jamie. "Brides-to-be with round or square faces can wear it too, just leave some hair loose around the face to soften it. The easiest way to achieve it is with a styling wand, taking two inch sections of hair and wrapping the wand from around halfway down, always wrapping it the same way. Pull into a loose pony, then run your fingers through the curls so they all sit together."
5 With the Band
This pretty look would work well with the '50s-style dresses on the catwalks at the moment! "This style looks great with the fringe," says Jamie. "Spray the top of your hair with a little hairspray and gently backcomb it, smoothing the hair over the top of the backcombed section before pulling into a loose pony - covering the band with a small piece of hair wrapped around to hide it. Finish with a pretty headband."
