The good groom's wedding countdown

One year to go

• Arrange the venue for the ceremony and the reception.
• Arrange for entertainment in the evening.
• Book the honeymoon.
• Choose your best man and ushers.

Six months to go

• Arrange transport both for the bride and for everyone else between the ceremony and reception.
• Make sure any out-of-town guests have somewhere to stay.

Two months to go

• By now you should have arranged for all principle males to have been fitted for their morning suits.
• Have your basic speech written – this will give you time to make changes closer to the day.

One month to go

• Make sure all the ushers, best man and other main participants know the order of the day and exactly what their roles are.
• Choose some gifts for everyone who will be helping out.

One week to go

• Double-check that everything is in place. If you’re not sure, make sure.
• Check the weather forecast for the big day. If rain is due, make sure there are umbrellas for everyone.

One day to go

• Pick up the buttonholes.
• Try your suit.
• Get your hair cut.

The day itself

• Make sure the best man has the rings and – the most important thing – have a wonderful time!
