Minimoon review: Calcot Manor
The beautiful Calcot Manor

From the moment you arrive at Calcot Manor you know you’re in for a treat. Managing to perfectly blend luxury with cosy countryside charm, this gem of a hotel, set in over 220 acres of stunning Cotswolds meadowland, has to be the ultimate post-wedding getaway destination.

After checking in we were shown to our room by one of the friendly receptionists (something that set the tone for our whole stay – everyone who works there can’t do enough for you, totally faultless!). We were staying in the Deluxe Family Suite, a beautiful two bedroom suite split over two levels, with a separate lounge area and huge bathroom. The huge four-poster bed, country-chic neutrals and luxe touches made the temptation to hibernate very strong, but with so much to explore we managed to drag ourselves away before crashing out!

First stop was Calcot Spa. If you want to blast away any remaining guest list stress, this is the place to do it. I decided to indulge in an ELEMIS facial, with one of the very lovely therapists. After talking about my skin type and any concerns I had, I knew I was in safe hands. 50 minutes later I left half asleep, totally blissed out and with glowing skin. Result!

As well as the seven treatment rooms, the spa has an indoor pool, sauna, steam room and outdoor hot tub, for you to make the most of. If you’re feeling energetic you can even hire bicycles to explore the grounds, or challenge your new Mr to a match on the tennis courts. We chose the lazy option and just chilled out all afternoon – don’t judge us!

After all that relaxing, we’d worked up an appetite, so headed to The Conservatory for dinner. The huge windows with breathtaking views of the grounds give this space a light and airy feel, but with a romantic, intimate atmosphere. Our incredible three-course meal was ridiculously good. My highlight had to be the whole lobster with goose-fat chips – seriously, does it get any better than that? And my husband still raves about the perfect crème brulee – a tough act to follow! Service was perfect and we left feeling very content – and VERY full!

If you’re looking for a romantic country getaway, we couldn’t recommend Calcot enough. Warm, welcoming and luxurious, it ticks all of our boxes!

Rooms start from £199 per night, including breakfast and use of the spa facilities.
