Minimoon review: Una, St Ives

Perfect Wedding's, Deputy Editor, Sianade gets away from it all at Una, St Ives

Minimoon review: Una, St Ives
Our beautiful lodge, Una Argentum 71

If a (slightly more impressive!) home-from-home is what you’re after for a pre-wedding break or a seriously luxurious minimoon, the incredible eco-lodges at Una in St Ives are just the ticket.

Set within 20 acres, there are 29 wooden-clad holidays homes on the site and we stayed in Una Argentum 71, a beautiful two-bedroom standalone property. We were wowed as soon as we walked through the door – with its own designer kitchen, log burner, huge living area and generous outdoor patio area (complete with bbq, naturally!), the interior is modern yet cosy and it’d be easy to while away a whole weekend here without ever leaving.

Only a few years old, everything about our lodge, and the nearby restaurant and leisure centre complex, feels pristine. Best of all is the location – just a 15-minute walk from Carbis Bay and a short drive from St Ives – it’s the perfect bolthole for days spent walking on the beach, eating ice creams and crab sandwiches.

After unpacking and pinching ourselves about our lodge we headed over to the on-site restaurant, The Kitchen, for dinner. The staff here really do shine and they couldn’t do enough for us. The menu showcases the tastes and flavours of the region with hearty, yet high-end dishes that we loved. Our appetites satisfied, we retired to our eco lodge in front of the fire for board games and the best (and quietest!) night’s sleep ever.

The morning brought with it the most anticipated part of our stay – the spa! I booked in for a massage in The Retreat – the resort’s peaceful, immaculate and seriously calming spa. After talking through with the therapist specific areas to focus on, I knew I was going to be well looked after. I left an hour later practically walking on air I was so relaxed. The leisure area also includes a pool, hot tub, sauna and steam – all of which can be enjoyed by guests, free of charge, during their stay.

If you’re looking for a romantic getaway to escape from it all, we couldn’t recommend Una St Ives enough – this place is seriously special.
