This handy 12-month wedding checklist will make your last year of wedding planning a breeze. Hopefully by this point you have already set a date and booked your venue, but don't worry if not - there is still plenty of time. Here are the key things you need to do to get your big day sorted - don't pretend it's hard work!

12 months before the big day:
Photographers often get booked up very early, so if you haven't found yours yet now is the time! Book any venue extras (such as outside catering or a marquee), choose your bridal party and start booking in some bridal boutique appointments (squeal!).

9 months before the big day:
It's time for all the fun bits! Book your band and any other entertainment, get your cake and flowers sorted, order your wedding stationery and sort a videographer if you're having one. Plus, it’s dress shopping time! You need to allow at least six months for a made-to-measure wedding dress so research styles you like, then hit the boutiques for the best shopping trip EVER.

6 months before the big day:
It’s time to start thinking about your bridesmaids, so organise a fun day out to start looking at dress options. Discuss your readings and song choices for the ceremony with your officiant, and think about wedding accommodation. Start choosing wedding gifts for your wedding helpers, book you wedding hair and make-up appointments and send out save the dates. Now’s also the time to start any DIY projects – make sure you get friends and family on board to help!

3 months before the big day:
Get your invites in the post, book the honeymoon and buy your wedding rings. By your wedding shoes, accessories and lingerie and go to your hair and make-up trials. Psyche yourselves up for the most epic of weddings tasks – the table plan!

1 month before the big day:
Write your wedding vows, chase any RSVP stragglers, run through duties with your bridesmaids and groomsman and pay off any remaining balances owed to suppliers. Confirm your final numbers and menu choices with your venue. Make sure your wedding music and ceremony order are finalised, and try not to break any bones on your hen do (likewise on his stag)!

1 week before the big day:
Finish off any DIY projects and pack them up, and confirm times and details with all your suppliers. Get a manicure, pedicure and stress-busting massage, and try on your outfit to check you aren’t missing anything. Pack for your honeymoon and first night and wrap up thank you cards. Don’t forget to order a bottle of fizz for your hotel suite.

1 day before the big day:
Do whatever venue set-up you’re able to do and try to stay calm! Spend the evening having a relaxed (early) dinner with your immediate wedding party, but try to stay off the wine and get an early night to look your best for the day ahead – your wedding day!
