So first things first – how much do you spend on a wedding in total?

  • On average, you spend £27,161 on your big day.
  • Where do all those £££s go? Your top five spends are as follows:

1. Venue hire
2. Honeymoon
3. Food 
4. Engagement ring
5. Drink

  • 51% of couples pay for the wedding with help from family.
  • We also wanted to find the average age of our couples:
    Your age: 31
    His age: 33
  • On average couples are together four years before getting engaged. (But 2% of you were loved-up for less than 6 months. Fast movers!).

  • 11% of you proposed to your man - power to the ladies!
  • 12 months is the average time it takes to plan a wedding. (But 5% of you do it in less than three months - now that's organised!).
  • 50% of you do most of the planning.

Getting social:

  • A quarter of your create a #weddinghashtag #omgweactuallydidit.
  • 1 in 5 couples have an unplugged wedding (goodbye unflattering photos).
  • 2% of you changed your Facebook relationship status at the ceremony.

Name of the game:

  • 7% of grooms change their name to match yours - hats off to the 21st century menfolk.
  • While 2% of you blend your surnames to create a new one!
  • 3 is the average number of groomsmen and bridesmaids. (But 23% of you have 5+ maids = what can we say, we have a strong crew).
