Hymns are a traditional part of a church ceremony, and are a lovely way to get your congregation in the celebratory mood (and break up those vows). But, which songs should you choose for your church ceremony? And which hymns are the most popular?

11 THINGS THAT WILL HAPPEN DURING YOUR WEDDING CEREMONY

Go for the classics
Whether you’re a regular church-goer or not, it’s a good idea to stick with familiar hymns that hopefully the vast majority of your guests will be familiar with. This will make things a lot livelier when it comes to the group singalong and avoids a church full of awkward murmuring.

How many?
Aim to have around two or three hymns and dot them throughout your ceremony to help to break up introductions, readings and vows.

Give your guests a hand
Give your guests an order of service so they know when they’re expected to sing and print the lyrics in there too. If you’re really worried about it being too quiet, you could always hire a choir or pull a few strong singers up front to lead the hymns.
