The secret to lasting love
Britain's longest-standing couple are taking to Twitter to share their tips for a happy life together!
Lionel and Ellen Buxton have been married for 76 years this summer, and on Valentine's Day they're taking to Twitter for the first time to answer your questions about the secrets to a long and happy marriage!
The initiative was set up by Dragon's Den star Hilary Devey to celebrate her investment in DIY wedding video company Shoot it Yourself, and the company's founders, Andrea and Becs, will be coordinating questions from the public.
The Buxtons first met in 1930, and married on 18th July 1936. Ellen said last month: “We have never been apart really and have never wanted anyone else. We have been married happily because we have been good friends as well as husband and wife.”
The couple, who have a daughter, Cyndy, and four grandchildren, say they have not spend more than a night apart from one another in the last eight decades and “have not got bored of each other yet.” Their shared interests include TV soaps, bingo, cards, quizzes, and reading novels, and are both Charlton Athletic fans.
Put your questions to the pair on Tuesday at twitter.com/lionelandellen or tweet @lionelandellen.
