Always wondered what makes a wedding really special? These guests reveal what big day memories stick out and the details that actually make a wedding fun…

1. “I loved one wedding where guests were transported from the church to the venue by a vintage bus. It was decorated with bunting and flowers and there were bottles of prosecco on board. It got everyone in the party spirit and we were all singing songs by the time we got to the marquee!” Alice Robyns

10 WEDDING IDEAS TO MAKE YOUR GUESTS FEEL SPECIAL

2. “At my sister’s wedding, instead of a first dance, she organised a singalong for all the guests. The bridesmaids held up cards with the lyrics on and everyone got in the spirit. It was so fun!” Amy Robb

3. “The best weddings I’ve been to have been outdoors. There’s something so relaxing about sitting on the grass in the sunshine with a drink in your hand. An ice cream van and ‘hook a duck’ always go down well too.” Lara Holt

4. “I met my wife at someone else’s wedding! We were the only two single people there so we were ‘subtly’ seated next to each other on the table plan. We hit it off though and got married ourselves three years later.” David Redfern

10 THINGS WEDDING GUESTS NEVER FORGET

5. “Doing stupid dances at my friend’s wedding is my favourite memory ever. The bride even started breakdancing (or trying to) by lying on the floor and spinning round! Needless to say, her dress was filthy afterwards, but she didn’t care and that’s what made the day so good!” Becca Thomas

6. “My friend got married after having her first child, so she put a lot of thought into entertainment for little ones. She hired soft play and laid it out in a special ‘kids zone’ to ensure they had as much fun as us adults.” Natalie Lambert

7. “Our friends had their wedding in their parents’ garden, which made it really personal and special. At night, their names were spelled out on the hill in fairy lights which ended the day in such a beautiful way.” Emily Haines

SECRETS TO A SERIOUSLY FUN WEDDING RECEPTION

8. “My favourite wedding was where the bride got very drunk and ended up encouraging all her friends to try on her wedding dress (which we did, obvs). Once we were in the dress, we then all had photos of ourselves dressed as ‘the bride’ – it was hilarious.” Helen Shaw

9. “When I was a bridesmaid for my best friend, we woke up to torrential rain. I wore leopard-print wellies under my dress to the church and then for their first dance they played Islands in the Stream by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton, which went down a storm.” Amanda Milner

HOW TO KEEP GUEST HAPPY DURING GROUP PHOTOS

10. “My sister got married on a tiny budget, so we all mucked in to help make the food, decorations and favours. It was a huge group effort by everyone but it was so nice watching all our hard work come together on the day and see my sister beaming with happiness. After all, that’s what it’s all about.” Maddie Martens
