Review: Kempinski Hotel Bahía
The view poolside at Kempinski Hotel Bahía

As our taxi pulled up to the impressive glass-fronted entrance of the Kempinski Hotel Bahía, we knew we were in for a special stay.

The high-ceilinged reception, with its original art and cosy bar (overlooking the grounds with the sea beyond), instantly made those everyday stresses drift away. Less than an hour from Malaga airport, 10 minutes from the pretty town of Estapona, and only 20 minutes from the designer-clad Puerto Banus, the hotel was in the perfect location for a few days of relaxing (and shopping).

Our room at the hotel was gorgeous, with a big balcony overlooking the lapping waves, while our large marble bathroom was perfect for relaxing.

The right start
The Kempinski prides itself on its breakfast, and rightly so. The ethos of starting the day with a healthy, hearty meal is one I am totally on board with… especially here! From pancakes (so good), to a huge selection of fruit, a vast array of cheese (my kind of breakfast) to flutes of pink cava, it was all gorgeous and delicious.

Poolside
The pools at the Kempinski have something for everyone (including a cool adults-only Moët et Chandon one). You can choose to get married on the grass overlooking the azure sea with the palm trees swaying in the balmy breezes – how perfect! And that stunning sea is one of the main views from the (incredible) La Cabana del Mar restaurant. Dining on grilled scallops with Iberian ham, beef tenderloin, mussels, red tuna and pear tart, we were in heaven. As the darkness approached, and the lanterns glowed, this place was utterly romantic, and a wedding reception here would really impress your guests.

Annnddd relax…
The hotel invited me try their spa… and my body massage, combined with the Natura Bisse facial, was, to put it mildly, incredible! A month later and my skin is still glowing. The spa also has a 24-hour gym (if you fancy running off all that cheese at 3am). But for me it was relaxation all the way – sheer perfection.

Book it!
