Worried about finding the right dress to flatter your figure? Just follow our 10 golden rules and you’ll soon have a figure to wow!

Clementine, Charlotte Balbier

1. Pears are usually small up top and curvy through the bum, hips and thighs so a dress with a fuller skirt is a must to disguise your least favourite bits!

2. …this doesn’t mean you should go for a full fairytale skirt though. A gentle A-line that flares out from the hip is so much more flattering.

3. Pears have enviously teeny-tiny waists, so make a feature of yours by adding an on-trend sash or embellished belt.

4. Want to make small boobs look fuller? Look for a dress with embellishment on the bust, such as fabric flowers or pleating.

5. Heavier fabrics work better on curvier figures, so avoid anything too clingy or silky, like satin, on your hips.

6. Straps can also help balance a pear-shaped figure – use this season’s stylish single strap design to draw the eye upwards and if you really want to wow add a supersized corsage!

7. Going short? Pears tend to have long bodies and shorter legs, so pick a long tea-length (to the ankle) with killer heels to make legs look longer.

8. If your dress doesn’t have an integral corset, then choose a bridal basque that will nip you in at the waist and smooth you in over the thighs and bum.

9. Another clever figure-balancing trick is to draw the eye up by choosing an amazing hair accessory or full, shorter veil!

10. And finally… If your hubby-to-be LOVES your curvy bum and you don’t want to hide it, then feel free to ignore this advice – a sexy fishtail will enhance it the most!
