What do Kate Middleton, Amal Clooney and Gisele all have in common (apart from being beautiful and successful)? – they all wore second wedding dresses for their reception or course!

So what are the benefits of changing into a second wedding dress and what are negatives? We find out below…

The pros

Freedom of movement
If you’re worried about your beautiful 15ft train on the dance floor, or not sure how you’ll do you first dance lift in a fishtail gown, a second wedding dress can give you a bit more freedom to move around. Opt for shorter gown to show off fancy footwork and ditch the corsetry!

Super style
Love an edgy big day look, but not quite sure you’re brave enough to wear it for the ceremony? A second wedding dress gives you the best of both worlds. You can go classic and traditional for the ceremony and then bring out your inner-fashionista in the evening.

Break up the day
Sometimes a long wedding day can start to dwindle, what better way to signal party time than a fabulous costume change?!

Make another grand entrance
Depending on your point of view making another entrance could be seen as either a pro or a con, but for all those spotlight lovers out there, this is just another big day moment to treasure.

Wear again?
Your reception dress doesn’t need to be as obviously ‘bridal’ as the first and you could even opt for metallics or colour to mix things up. As a result, you’ll be much more likely to wear this gown again after the big day.

The cons

The cost
It's a biggie - there’s no getting around it, a second wedding dress is going to add a little bit more to the wedding budget. Why not try high street or non-bridal and grab a yourself a bargain.

The extra stress
Did you find shopping for your main wedding dress hard enough? Well, you might not want to open yourself up to the prospect of yet another gown to find…

Time away from your guests
Other than saying your vows, the main purpose of a big wedding day is to spend time with those you love the most. Taking time out to get changed and spruce yourself up might not be top of your priorities on the big day itself.

Another way?

Still not sure about a second wedding dress? Why not make like Sofia Vergara and Poppy Delevingne and get a wedding dress that adapts to evening? You could try a removable overskirt an optional lace jacket or even a simple bustle. Ta dah!
