What we learned from Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2017
Backstage and Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2017

Runways, cocktails, glamour, running in heels and gorgeous wedding dresses – we are (of course) talking about Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2017.

We’ve spent all week at the side of Spain’s hottest catwalk and we’ve seen out-there-accessories, supermodels (Karolina Kurkova is even more beautiful in real life), choreographed dances and some seriously wow-worthy wedding trends. Here are our top picks from the Barcelona runways.

Frill me
Looking for a bold wedding look? Simple white dresses were elevated with statement frills on the shoulders, sleeves and skirts.

3D florals
The trend for 3D florals is going nowhere, with lots of designers embracing this romantic, ethereal look. Mixed with beading and tulle the detail is pretty and timeless.

Marco & Maria

Angel Sanchez gave the style a contemporary edge with hard-textured florals on a sheer illusion neckline. We love the combination of the clean modern lines mixed with dainty botanicals.

Little dress on the prairie
Classic lace was given an update with a combination of broderie anglaise and bold panelling. The overall look is pretty and relaxed – perfect for a boho bride.

YolanCris toughened up the look with corset-detailing to add a sexy, underwear-as-outerwear vibe to this lace gown.

Plunging
Think you shouldn’t be too sexy on your wedding day? Think again! Plunging necklines were on full display in Barcelona, many of them cut to waist-level (whit-whoo!).

Modern princess
Traditional brides fear not, 2018 also marks the return of the classic princess gown, with full ballgown skirts popping up all over the runway.

We love this gorgeous gown from Galia Lahav, which combined the classic silhouette with contemporary sheer layering, stripes and oh-so-pretty florals.

Statement sleeves
From cuffs, to flounces, to bold billowing sheer beauties – sleeves were simply everywhere.

Add drama to your big day look with floor-sweeping sleeves - a cool alternative to a traditional train.

Trousers
Not a fan of wedding dresses? We love these bridal top and trouser options.

Cymbeline

Crop tops have made their way from the main fashion runways into bridal and they look abs-olutely fabulous.

Simple elegance
Proof that simple doesn’t mean boring. With the right fit and a tiny bit of detailing (cute capped sleeves or a sexy split both looked amazing), a fitted white dress can be contemporary and captivating.
