My mum and fiancée are at war!

My fiancée has fallen out with my mum about wedding details and I’ve ended up in the middle – what can I do to resolve the situation?

Phil, 31

Weddings are one of the few times where family plays a big part in organising an event. It’s almost unheard of for a family tiff not to arise, but finding yourself in the middle isn’t much fun. Try to speak to your fiancée about it when you are at home alone and try and get her to see your mother’s point of view. Then maybe have the same conversation with your mother and see if they can both come to some sort of agreement. Your fiancée will be married to you forever and seeing family is inevitable, so straightening out any differences now would be a good idea.
