The couple fell in love with Kasteelhoeve de Kerckhem – a castle and farm in the Belgian countryside. "We wanted somewhere we could hire out for the whole weekend, and it had enough rooms for close family and friends to stay," explains Kirsty.

"We're both ecologically minded, and believe that bees represent working hard to produce something beautiful – we felt it was the perfect representation of our relationship together and would make a great theme to build our day around!" says Kirsty.

The couple's flowers were lavender, wild flowers and local herbs, and they also planted up pots of lavender to line the aisle and decorate their tables.

One of our favourite details was the 'make your own confetti' bar that the pair created! "We made confetti cones out of card with a printed lace pattern, and guests could fill them with herbs and flowers," explains Kirsty. "We also displayed the name and meaning of the flowers alongside them, and everything smelled amazing!"

"The best decision we made about out whole day was having a humanist ceremony," says Kirsty. "We met with our moral consultant four times before the wedding, and it gave us a chance to really think about our marriage and to design a personal wedding ceremony."
