Sarah and Chris held their winter wedding at Brympton D'Evercy in Somerset after falling in love with the dramatic setting. "It was the first venue we looked at and we just fell in love with it – from the amazing fireplaces to the fact that we could hire it for the whole weekend," says Sarah.
Sarah paired her navy details with beautiful cream flowers to create a striking, sophisticated effect. "We knew exactly what we were looking for as we spent hours making a wedding scrapbook full of all our favourite ideas," explains Sarah. "It sounds like a lot of effort, but it was so useful to show suppliers exactly what we had in mind."
Sarah and Chris asked a close family friend to make their amazing cake. "It was a total surprise apart from we had said we would like one layer chocolate tier, one Victoria sponge and one fruit – something for everyone!" says Sarah. "All the flowers were hand-made and took hours and hours. We are so grateful to her, it was the most amazing cake we had ever seen!"
Sarah found the hunt for her wedding dress nervewracking – she even tried to persuade Chris to go with her to help her choose! "He wasn't having any of it though, and told me to go for the one I felt most comfortable in," she says. "It turned out to be good advice – I only tried on a few styles but as soon as I put on my Alan Hannah dress I knew it was perfect. It was simple, classic and comfortable, and I didn't want to take it off!"
Chris' sister Carly organised for Sarah to have a pair of unique shoes made for her wedding! "I designed them with a designer and chose the material, everything. I was so pleased with them! It was such a wonderful present and I am so grateful to Carly!" says Sarah.
